Chadstone Shopping Centre opened in Malvern East, Victoria, in October 1960 as Australia's first self-contained regional shopping centre, and it has grown into the largest shopping centre in Australia by gross leasable area. Chadstone covers more than 230,000 square metres across five levels, approximately 17 kilometres south-east of Melbourne's CBD.
