About King of Prussia

King of Prussia is the second largest shopping mall in the United States by gross leasable area, spanning 2.8 million square feet across multiple levels in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Opened in 1963 as The Plaza, it expanded with the addition of The Court in 1981, and the two buildings were finally connected in 2016 by The Connector, an enclosed link that unified the complex into one continuous mall. Simon Property Group owns and manages the property, which attracts roughly 22 to 25 million visitors annually.

The tenant roster includes more than 450 stores across every tier of retail, from Nordstrom, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, and Primark to a growing luxury corridor that hosts the Philadelphia region's only locations for brands unavailable elsewhere in the metro.

In 2025, Netflix House Philadelphia opened within the complex as one of the first physical entertainment venues from the streaming platform—a format that draws visitors with no prior interest in retail shopping.

Dining anchors span across two food courts and multiple sit-down restaurants:

  • Maggiano's
  • Seasons 52
  • Morton's
  • Eddie V's
  • True Food Kitchen
  • The Cheesecake Factory

The mall's multi-building origin means it has inherent wayfinding complexity that no single-building property faces. The layout's three-level depth in some sections, five parking lots, and three parking garages create entry permutations that make a searchable interactive map the most efficient navigation tool on the property.

Why interactive wayfinding matters here

King of Prussia is three malls unified by a connector, and the structural changes are clear to an unfamiliar visitor. During November and December alone, the property serves more than 5 million visitors in peak holiday season. When a tenant moves or a new concept opens, a live map reflects that immediately across every touchpoint (website, app, kiosk, QR code) instead of waiting for a directory reprint. Mall operators running portfolios at this scale use digital wayfinding to reduce concierge load and surface tenant promotions at the moment of highest intent.
