Mappedin Web App Updates: Label Icons, Intuitive Search, and Multi-Destination

It’s time for a quick look at what new features in the Web App we’ve been working on in the first half of 2023. We’ve heard your feedback and our team's creative (and programming) juices have been flowing. We can’t wait to see what you think.

New Releases

Floating Labels

Enable floating label icons that nicely highlight important pieces of information on your map. These category icons come from a standardized set that is optimized for the small UI. You have the ability to customize three types of floating labels (categories, amenities, and connections). Additionally, you can interact with the label to see the location info card.

Flat Labels

We removed label clutter upon selecting a location to only show the red pin icon and location name. Additionally, font color contrast in certain scenarios was improved to ensure readability and optimal user experience.

Search

We’ve been working on improving our search engine to make it easier for your end users to find what they're looking for. We have added a ”Most Popular” category to show commonly searched for locations and an ability to customize which locations show in “Top Locations”. We also released Intuitive Search which shows categories and tags in search results. The results are ordered by popularity and match to search entries, categories, and tags.

Multi-Destination

We improved the multi-destination journey with the ability to easily add multiple locations within the directions card and simply drag and drop to reorder. Visitors can toggle between paths within the profile card or by selecting the numbered tooltips and inactive path. A starting point 2D marker and multi-destination markers within the level selector have been added to ensure it’s clear where a visitor’s path begins.

Departure Marker

The marker size is more dynamic and adjusts based on zoom level.

Navigation

Users have the ability to select the secondary location of tenants or amenities with multiple locations to enable wayfinding. This applies to locations with multiple storefronts or polygons. Additionally, we have added the ability to select start and end destinations directly from the map.

Profile Card

Improvements to the profile card include:

  • ‘X’ takes you to the home state

  • Back arrow closes the state card

  • Longer descriptions are collapsed

  • Hours displayed past midnight

Experimental Features

Just a heads up, these are experimental (and really exciting)! You now have the ability to opt into several new experimental features: ambient occlusion and outdoor context map tiles. Ambient occlusion gives venues a more dynamic look and feel with added shadows on geometry that are reactive to the perspective of the user. Outdoor map tiles can give your visitors additional context to the surrounding area outside of your venue. Compared to our SDK, these experimental features need to be enabled by our team. Stadium Web App

We’ve been working hard on many new features for our Web App for stadiums, based on feedback and insights from our customers and partners in the stadium industry. For a more in-depth look at our Web App for Stadiums product, you can read more about it here.
