About Barclays Center

Barclays Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Brooklyn, New York, home to the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA and the New York Liberty of the WNBA. The venue offers 17,553 seats for basketball and up to 19,000 for concerts and other events. It has been consistently named a top 10 global arena by Billboard and Pollstar.

Barclays Center opened in 2012 as a $1 billion facility designed by AECOM and SHoP Architects, with one of the most intimate seating configurations ever built into a modern multi-purpose arena. Its first event was a Jay-Z concert on September 28, 2012 — setting the tone for a venue that has since hosted:

  • MTV Video Music Awards
  • Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies
  • NBA All-Star Weekend
  • Multiple NBA Draft nights
  • Major championship boxing cards
  • Residencies from artists including Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, and Shakira

Premium spaces inside the arena include the Crown Club courtside lounge, the Gallagher Terrace with in-seat dining service, Modelo Bridge — the arena's largest bar — and the Qatar Airways Club, among others. The Brooklyn Taste food program sources dining from local borough restaurants and vendors throughout the concourse.

Barclays Center sits directly above the LIRR's Atlantic Terminal and is adjacent to the Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center subway station, served by 10 subway lines.

Why interactive wayfinding matters here

Barclays Center runs three distinct use cases from the same building on consecutive nights: NBA basketball, WNBA, and major concerts—each with different seating configurations, entry flows, and concourse setups. A static seating chart serves one layout.

An interactive map on Mappedin serves all of them, updating section assignments, club access points, and concourse routing as each event configuration is published. For an arena drawing millions of annual visitors in a borough where most guests arrive by subway and need to find their seat fast, the difference between a PDF and a live map is the difference between a frustrated fan and a seamless entry.

Venue operators running Mappedin push those updates from a single CMS.
