About Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom officially opened on October 1, 1971, as the first of four theme parks built at the Walt Disney World Resort near Lake Buena Vista, Florida. It serves as the resort's flagship park, drawing on the original Disneyland layout but built on a significantly grander scale. The guest-facing park area covers approximately 107 acres, while the broader Walt Disney World property spans nearly 25,000 acres, roughly the size of San Francisco.
The park is organized into six distinct lands:
- Main Street U.S.A.
- Adventureland
- Frontierland
- Liberty Square
- Fantasyland
- Tomorrowland
Each land has its own theming, attraction cluster, dining options, and merchandise locations, so a guest's navigation needs change entirely depending on which land they're in and where they want to go next.
Magic Kingdom consistently ranks as the most-visited theme park in the world, drawing over 17 million guests annually in recent years, with attendance peaking at nearly 21 million in 2019.
Why interactive wayfinding matters here
A park drawing 17 million guests a year across six themed lands generates an enormous volume of orientation questions. Printed park maps help, but they're static the moment they're pressed. When an attraction temporarily closes, a vendor relocates, or a parade route shifts, a live interactive map can reflect that change in minutes rather than waiting for the next print run.
That's the operational layer Mappedin provides: a map that stays current, embeds anywhere, and cuts the wayfinding load on guest-services staff.
